Wonderful, much sought after and huge vintage sterling silver traditional pendant. Fully hallmarked for Juhls Kautokeino, Norway c 1970s. Also hallmarked for AP, Finland year 1973 (most likely the retailer).
Great condition, bale (jump-ring) is most likely a replacement. Back of pendant might have had a brooch pin, we have seen these before with brooch pins.
Height incl bale: 5.5in / 14cm
In the 1950s, Frank and Regine Juhls opened a jewelry workshop in the wilderness of Northern Norway. During the Studio Silver Movement in Norway, these artists created jewelry inspired by the Tundra and by the folk traditions of the Sami people who lived there.
